Ending of Act III

15 years later ....

(There is a knock at the door)

Nora's kids: Mom?

(Nora has not gone back to see her family in the past 15 years. She has not seen anyone since the day she left Torvald. She has been living by herself at a nice home with a good job.)

Nora: (nervously) Jack? Luke? Elizabeth? Is it really you?

Nora's kids: (eyes glued on Nora) yes it's us!

Nora: (staring at them not knowing what to say) ... What are you guys doing here? How did you find me? Uhm come in, come in.

(They walk into Nora's house and sit down on the couch. They don't say a word. Until Elizabeth finally opens her mouth)

Elizabeth: (with tears in her eyes) How could you? How could you leave us alone with dad and not even say goodbye? You know how it was growing up without a mother? Not knowing where she is and why she left? How could you?

Nora: (speechless) You don't understand how hard it was to leave you guys. Me and your father weren't happy. I was not happy  with the life I was living. You guys were better off without me. I had to leave. To get my life back together and be happy.

Elizabeth: (crying) You look pretty happy now. Why didn't you come back and get us? 15 years? It took you 15 years to get happy again? You don't even know how hard it was for us and how dad treated us.

Nora: (sitting on the couch across from them, seeing how miserable they all look) After I left I couldn't go back. I could not go back and see your father. After all we've been through I just couldn't have been able to handle that. I'm so sorry. I loved you guys more then anything. Trust me i left you guys so you can have a better life.

(Elizabeth gets to emotional and runs to the bathroom. One of Nora's sons soon chimes in.)

Jack: (starts to talk very quietly) After you left, life was not easy for us. Dad was never there. He was depressed that you left. He told us everything that happened between you guys. Even though you may not have believed he loved you, he really did. After you left he went through such a hard time. He turned to alcohol and became an alcoholic. He was in and out of rehab and it was hard for us.

Nora: (speechless)

(Elizabeth comes back into the room and wants to leave. Nora's other son is just quiet and looks upset.)

Elizabeth: (says in a reproaching way) I think it's time to go now. Now you know everything. We said what we needed to and we need to go. Now.

Nora: (upset and starts going towards the door) I'm so sorry for everything. I really am. All I wanted was for you guys to have a life deserved. I never knew Torvald was like that. I am so sorry I should've came back to get you guys. I ...

Elizabeth: (cutting Nora off) Well it's a little to late for your excuses. You're such a hypocrite. We're leaving now. Bye.

*After Nora shuts the door, she goes to the window and watches them leave. She looks down at her necklace and sheds a tear as she opens the locket and sees a picture of her kids. As she looks back out the window she sees a man who looks familiar*

Nora: (whispers to herself) No it can't be .... Is it ....... Yes ...... Torvald.

(Nora never heard from her kids again except for Luke. He wrote her a letter saying all of this stuff he didn't get to. In it, he put how Torvald died a few years back because of alcohol poisoning. She remembered she saw him the day he left but then realized it was just an apparation of him.)

Act II

Act II is over and a lot of stuff happened that we didn't expect. Nora was still not the nicest. "Flesh coloured - aren't they lovely? The light's bad in here now, but tomorrow ... No,no,no, you only look at the feet. Oh well, you may see the rest too" (Isben 193). I wonder what Torvald would have done if he heard Nora say that, especially to Dr. Rank. Her actions were intolerable. We did see another side of her though  after Dr. Rank had confessed his love for her she acted different. "I can never tell you now" (Isben 195). Technically the only reason why Nora was flirting with him was because she needed money, but now she feels bad because of what Rank told her what would you do if you were in Nora's position?
We also see an even worse side of Krogstad. "Yes, how you've been warned so don't do anything stupid. I shall expect to hear from Helmer as soon as he gets my letter" (Isben 200). This must have been excruciating for Nora. The last thing she wanted was for Torvald to find out her secret. He is so bitter and is only going after one thing. "Inside a year, i shall be the manager's right-hand man. It'll be Nils Krogstad who runs the bank, not Torvald Helmer" (Isben 199). That's the only reason Krogstad wants retribution on Nora.

At the end of Act II, something happens with Nora. "Seven hours till midnight. The twenty-four hours till midnight tomorrow. Then the tarantella will be over. Twenty-four and seven ... thirty-one hours to live" (Isben 206). Nora is going to commit suicide! Do you really think she is going to do it? If so, what do you think will happen to her kids? What will happen to Torvald?

Act 1

Now that act 1 is over, some of the characters personalities were pretty interesting. My first thought was that Nora was so greedy because of the "money situation". She always got money from Torvald's advancement at the bank. We thought she was spending it on frivolous things, but now that we know the truth I feel different. Torvald on the other hand is still rude to Nora. "Has my little feather brain been wasting money again?" He doesn't talk to her with any respect. Torvald calls her a feather brain as if she was nothing.
What bothered me the most was the way Nora interacted with Mrs. Linde. Nora was ravishing on about  how lucky she was and how perfect her life was. "My mother was still alive; she was bedridden and helpless, and I had my two younger brothers to look after - I didn't feel I could refuse his offer." Mrs. Linde or Kristina, as Nora calls her, told Nora how hard her life was. All Nora could do was talk about herself and how she got money from her dad or Torvald. If I was Mrs. Linde I would have just left and would have ignored Nora. I would have even went off on her. I thought it was rude that all Nora talked about was how good her life was when Mrs. Linde needed her to listen and possibly give her advice. What do you think about Nora and Kristina's interaction?
